Every day is Groundhog Day
Why not take advantage of it?
I watched “Groundhog Day” the other night. I think I’ve watched it 50 times.
Watching it that time was different. I realized that the story was about me. And you and everyone.
In case you don’t know the story, what the fuck? you loser!, I’ll give you a quick summary.
Bill Murray lives the same day over and over again. Nothing changes day to day other than him. He moves through annoyance, anger, irresponsibility, and despair. And finally, he finds his answer.
My answer.
Our answer.
When I was growing up I didn’t live the same day over and over, but, as I wrote here, I believed that God gave me the same lesson to learn, over and over, until I learned it, then on to the next.
Eventually I learned about Love.
Day by day. Lesson by lesson.
Today
Today is the only day that is real.
The past does not exist. It has come and gone and is no more.
We have memories and histories, but they are all in the present.
The future has not come.
With no past and no future, this is all there is!
This day..
The only day.
This day will give us opportunities to choose Love, or make a mistake. Those are the only choices, and we make them every moment.
If we don’t choose Love, we will be given another chance. And another and another.
Sometimes it will seem like tomorrow, but that is only how it seems.
It is only, always, ever, today.
I resisted learning until—like Bill Murray—I surrendered and began to learn to only choose Love. For 54 years, and more, I’ve learned.
And making that choice is so deeply a part of me, that it would take enormous effort to choose otherwise.
Or sometimes inattention.
I still make misteaks1. But fewer and fewer.
Today is Groundhog Day.
What will you choose?
I was going to write a post about subscribing and then link to that post instead of a subscribe button, but haha Substack had other plans. So here I with now three subscribe buttons that I can’t delete
Sure enough I did. Well enough of this. I’m just going to post this. I really don’t care that much whether you subscribe or not. I’m going to write a post about subscribing and link it here.
See what I did there?

Oooooh so good for ALL THE REASONS!!!!
