I am confused by the idea of being an idea….. what does this mean? Whose idea am I? And what is an idea anyway? Is there some Super Idea /God whose ideas we all are?

I want to understand.

Thanks for asking those questions. I'm working out answers as I go along and I'll both give you some answers and ask some questions.

> I am confused by the idea of being an idea….. what does this mean?

I'll try to unconfuse you.

This post is part of a series that started with the "everything is an idea" post.

https://70yearswtf.substack.com/p/everything-is-an-idea

It might be worth re-reading (It was for me. And I wrote it!)

That post started with an idea--the idea that I had when I suddenly realized that everything I saw (certainly every human-made object) started with an idea.

You are kind of a human-made object, or at least your body is. So that started with your parents' idea "let's have a baby." (Or maybe it was just "let's fuck" and the baby was a side-effect. Either way, you started with an idea.)

Are you your body.?

I don't experience you that way.. For me there's a "Peggy" that is different from "Peggy's body." I expect when you say "me" you sometime refer to your body, but sometimes you refer to something different.

So what is "Peggy?"

You have an idea of who and what "Peggy" is. I have an idea, too. So does Adam, Sam, and every person who knows you. Even someone who is reading this thread has an idea.

So which is the "right idea of Peg?"

Is it yours?

Is it the average of all our ideas? Or the sum?

>Whose idea am I?

Whose idea indeed? I have my idea. You have yours. But is there a "real" idea of Peggy? And if so, whose idea is it?

>And what is an idea anyway?

That's the first question we need to be clear on. What is an idea? I think we know one when we see one. But can we define what an idea is?

I would say we can't, because how would we do such a thing? If we use words to define what an idea is, we do it by stringing together a bunch of words which are--well, each word refers to an idea and the combination of words represent another idea, different from each of the words. And the idea that arises in your mind as you read this resembles the idea in mine as I write it. But certainly they are not going to be the same.

> Is there some Super Idea /God whose ideas we all are?

The next post will be called "The idea of God." and maybe I'll have some answers. But probably I'll have more questions.
